Project Description

Formed on the lathe this Box Elder wood belonging to the maple family is hollowed out while maintaining a natural raw wood edge and exposing the beautiful effects of nature. The naturally occurring red flames of wood are in fact an effect of fungal decomposition. This fungus attacks a sick tree and causes it to turn a deep red. Over time with exposure to UV rays the red composition will deteriorate, so its best to keep a piece like this in a low lit area of the home.
